How does e-filing work?
The e-Filing system accepts documents submitted in portable document format (PDF). PDF retains the way a document looks, so the pages, fonts and other formatting are preserved. Filing a document electronically is easy. You simply: Create the document using word processing software or by scanning; Save the document in PDF format; Log onto the court’s e-Filing system, using your court-issued username and password; Click the Single File Upload button, select a filing type, document type and subtype and enter the required information to upload one group of documents at a time OR click the Batch Upload button to upload a .zip file containing multiple PDF files. Locate the PDF file (single upload) or zip file (batch upload) saved on your system and click the Submit button to submit it to the court for filing; and Save or print 1) the confirmation of receipt sent immediately by the court confirming that the document was successfully uploaded, and 2) the notice of e-Filing sent by the court to
During the first phase of the electronic filing project, the Superior Court of San Francisco has contracted with LexisNexis, (http://www.lexisnexis.com/). To submit a filing, an attorney will need to subscribe to LexisNexis service, create the filing document(s) electronically and submit it/them through LexisNexis filing interface. This interface will collect additional data about the filing required by the court’s system, perform some validation filing data, and the court will review documents. After the clerk review process, and upon acceptance of the filing, a confirmation will be sent back to the filer and the data and document will be posted to the court’s case management system. At this point the entry will be available on the Register of Action for the case. The image of the document will be available over the Internet at http://www.sftc.org the day after the entry is recorded into the case management system.
E-filed returns: • Are easily prepared and filed as most software has easy to follow step-by-step instructions. • Are acknowledged by the IRS and Oregon as being received. • Are processed faster than paper returns. • Result in faster refunds. Generally after processing begins, e-filers receive their refunds in 4 10 business days if not claiming Working Family Child Care Credit (WFC). Please allow extra time for processing if claiming WFC. E-filing allows you to transmit your return quickly and safely to the IRS and Department of Revenue. When the IRS and Revenue receive your returns, each agency will notify the software company you used to e-file. The software company will notify you that your returns were received. Taxpayers who e-file usually receive their refunds more quickly than taxpayers who file paper returns. Generally, after processing begins, e-filers receive their refunds in about 4-10 days; paper-return filers usually receive their refunds in six to eight weeks.
