How does e-file work?

If you choose to e-file, there is one form (Form 8453) you (and spouse, if filing jointly) must sign. The signed form is what we send the IRS instead of a return. Once you pay for your return and sign the form we will transmit your return electronically. The IRS has 48 hours to acknowledge your return. They tell us whether it has been accepted or not. If it has, we send you a notice in the mail and you can expect your refund as scheduled. If it is rejected we will call you to resolve the problem (most common rejections are mismatches between names and social security numbers). We can re-send the return electronically or we may determine you have to file your return on paper. If we prepare your return and it turns out you are unable to electronically file, we will refund your e-file fee. The primary advantage to filing electronically is to get your refund faster. With direct deposit, you can receive your refund in approximately two weeks. If you choose to receive your check in the mail,

We are an Electronic Return Originator (ERO) who is authorized to file your return electronically to the IRS. We provide this service FREE to you for one Federal and one State return. We are required by a new California State law to e-file all returns. Since we e-file your return for you, you are not required to physically sign your return. Instead we use the “Practitioner PIN” method. The Practitioner PIN method is an electronic signature option for taxpayers who use a tax professional. All taxpayers that file Form 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ are eligible to use the Practitioner PIN method. There is no age limit on who can use this method. You, the taxpayer, will sign your return with the five-digit PIN you have selected. The PIN can be any five numbers you choose except all zeros. The Practitioner PIN method does not require the entry of the taxpayer’s original Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) or Date of Birth. We will complete for you Form 8879 (IRS e-file Signature Authorization) and have yo

E-file works in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service’s (IRS) Electronic Filing System. Taxpayers can e-file from a computer, or by using a tax preparer who is an approved Electronic Return Originator (ERO). The state return is transmitted to the IRS along with the federal return. When the federal return is accepted, an acknowledgment (electronic confirmation) is sent from the IRS. The IRS then transmits the state return information to the Missouri Department of Revenue (department). When the state return is accepted, an acknowledgment is sent from the department. The department has entered into an agreement with certain software providers to offer free online filing services to qualified Missouri taxpayers. This agreement is called Free File Alliance. Through this agreement, taxpayers can file their Federal and Missouri income tax returns using approved software.
