How does Charles Frazier represent war in cold mountain?
I don’t have the book (I read a friend’s copy), so I can’t give you any quotes. However, as I recall it, he shows war to be completely hopeless, pointless, bleak, brutal. I found it rather depressing, in fact. It seemed to me that there was no reference to a good reason for the American Civil War and no honor in fighting for what you believed. I got the feeling he was basically saying that there were not any ideals driving the war. This is my take on it, at least.
