How does acid rain affect people?
Although acid rain will not eat through your clothing or dissolve your skin, it affects us at a very basic level. It can affect the quality of the water we need for drinking and washing. It can affect the soil, which we need to grow food to support human life and to build dwellings. Acidity can dissolve trace metals like mercury, aluminum, cadmium, lead, and asbestos in the atmosphere, in the soil, and in water pipes. It can corrode pipes. It erodes buildings and art work, thus ruining centuries of human construction and expression and constructive work. It dissolves marbles statues, eroding away artistic masterpieces.
