The obliques are muscles found along the sides of your abdomen. These muscles maintain your posture and help you to twist and turn. You can exercise these muscles with a medicine ball. Sit back-to-back with a partner who is about your height. Keep your legs out in front of you. Sit up straight and maintain good posture throughout the exercise. Hold a medicine ball as far from you as comfortable. If you’re just beginning to exercise your obliques, keep the ball close to your chest. More experienced weight trainers can keep the medicine ball farther away. Turn your upper body to your right. As you turn right, your partner will turn left. Pass the ball into your partner’s hands. Turn your upper body to the left as your partner turns to the right. Take the ball from your partner’s hands. Continue the obliques exercise by repeating Steps 3 to 6 for one minute. Exercise the left side of your obliques by turning to your left to start. Repeat Steps 3 to 6 for one minute.
