How Do You Share Dial Up Internet?
A dial-up internet connection used to mean one computer connected to the internet through one phone line. Now, however, a dial-up connection can connect many computers to the internet—in the same location with the same connection. It is easy to share dial-up internet connections. Sign up for a dial-up service that will service your phone line, and not just one computer. Make sure that you notify the provider that you’ll have more than one computer on the network. Configure each computer to the correct TCP/IP settings by going into “Settings,” “Internet settings,” and “TCP/IP settings.” Each computer should be configured correctly according to the documents you get from your service provider. Connect each computer to your phone line. You can use phone-line splitters to connect more than one computer to a single phone jack, or to connect a phone and your computer to the same jack. Dial in on each computer.
