Sewing hair onto a weft is attaching it to a strip that can then be glued or sewn onto a doll’s head. You can use a variety of materials for the hair, ranging from acrylic fleece to human hair. Although the process may seem daunting it is fairly easy and requires only a few materials. Organize the material that you are going to use for hair. Use a thin layer of hair for the weft. If you are using animal hairs make sure that the cut ends line up. Cut the tissue paper in strips three inches wide. Try to make strips that are as long as possible. Set your sewing machine on the smallest size stitch possible. This will ensure that the hair is held firmly by the stitches. Take one strip of tissue paper and lay a thin layer of the hair on the tissue paper. Cover the paper with two inches of hair. Lay another piece of tissue paper on top of the first and the hair. Sew over the two layers of tissue paper and the hair. Stop shortly before you get to the end of the area where the hair is laid out.
