Since most, if not all, cell phone providers use an SMS gateway (a medium that permits the transmission of SMS messages from any website to a specific phone number), you can send an unlimited number of text messages to a Sprint PCS phone through email. To ensure successful delivery, you must know the SMS gateway for your contact’s cell phone provider. When sending emails to a Sprint PCS phone, your email must not exceed 160 characters. If it does, you may not be able to send the SMS message or the recipient will not receive the entire message. Sign in to your email provider’s web-based platform or open your email client program if you use one. Select “Compose” and then enter the 10-digit phone number plus “@messaging.sprintpcs.com” in the “To” field. For example, if the Sprint PCS recipient’s number is 123-456-7899, type “1234567899@messaging.sprintpcs.com” (without quotes) in the “To” field.
