Replacing the pool pump and installing a new one is a task that requires a few minutes and ensures clear, beautiful swimming water. Unplug the current pool pump. Close the water valves on the pool skimmer and the pool filter. Unhook the current pool pump by unscrewing the hose clamp on the intake pool hose that connects the pool skimmer to the pool pump. Disconnect the pool pump from the pool filter by unscrewing the hose clamp that holds the hose onto the pool pump. Your system may have a union that connects the pump to the filter.
