Sizzurp is a dangerous alcoholic concoction made of vodka, soda and cough medicine. The drink began in popularity as a liquid recreation among Southern, urban youth and popularized through regional rap music. It has since spread in its popularity to become the topic of many mainstream hip-hop songs. The drink is featured in music videos, has been the subject of documentaries and has arguably become hip-hop’s answer to drugs and rock ‘n’ roll. Step 1 Chill all ingredients. Cough medicine containing codeine is generally used, but over the counter cough medicine will work also. Soda can be of any variety but generally grape or red. Step 2 Dump all ingredients into a shaker with crushed ice. Step 3 Shake vigorously. Step 4 Strain the drink into cups and serve.
