How Do You Make Papier Mache Vegetables?
Making vibrant and colorful papier-mâché vegetables is a fun project for the whole family. You can celebrate the bounty of vegetable delights, such as tomatoes, carrots, eggplants, radishes and squash, and make a lovely centerpiece for your table. Step 1 Crumple up sheets of newspaper to resemble vegetable shapes and secure the shapes with masking tape or string. The shapes don’t need to be perfect, they can be whimsical and creative. Make stems out of rolled up pieces of tape and attach them to the vegetables. Step 2 Make a temporary “handle” by poking a bamboo skewer through the bottom of each veggie. Step 3 Cut colored tissue paper into pieces approximately 3 inches square. Hold the skewer while you use a sponge brush to coat the vegetable with decoupage liquid. Layer the colored tissue paper one piece at a time on top of the wet decoupage liquid. Step 4 Allow each layer of decoupage liquid to dry and continue adding layers to the vegetable until the color is as dark as you want it.
