Fabric pins are a satisfying project to make yourself or with children. Simple shapes accented with beads and lace make attractive pins you can give as gifts, wear yourself, or sell at a craft fair. Any sturdy fabric will do, though felt is easiest to work with, since it’s available in lots of colors, easy to cut, and won’t fray. Layer the felt with lace edging and decorate with beads for a chic pin with lots of textural interest. Draw your foundation shape on the wrong side of your fabric with the pencil. Choose a simple shape such as a circle, oval, diamond or heart. Draw a second shape, slightly larger on a piece of fabric in a contrasting color. Cut out the fabric shapes. Pin the lace to the front edge of the larger shape. Lay the second piece of fabric on top of the first so that the lace is between the two pieces of fabric.
