How Do You Make Cloth Table Runners?
Create decorative table runners to enhance a table setting, holiday decor or special event such as a birthday. Generally long and narrow in shape, there are no hard rules about the design, the width or length of runners. Sew custom runners the way you want for your table but let the ends hang over the edges of the table. Make a variety of runners for yourself as well as a few that will make timely gifts for holidays like Thanksgiving or Christmas. Measure your table and decide on the width and length of the runner you want to sew. Purchase medium or medium-heavy weight fabric for the top of the runner and lightweight fabric for the bottom of the runner. Lay both pieces of fabric together lengthwise on a work table. Fold both fabric pieces lengthwise, measuring the width desired for the runner plus one inch and marking it with the fabric marker. Insert straight pins three inches from the fold. Cut the fabric lengthwise along the fold with scissors. Lay fabric pieces together right-side
