When Trader Vic of the Polynesian-inspired restaurant chain first invented his signature drink and gave it to a Tahitian friend to try, the man took one sip and yelled, “Maita’i roa!” which translates to “Very good!” Enjoy this “very good” drink by following these steps to make a Mai Tai: Step 1 Scoop ice into a martini shaker until it is half-full. Step 2 Pour in the liquor and juice and replace the lid. Step 3 Shake until the outside of the shaker becomes frosted with condensation. Step 4 Strain the contents of the shaker into a tall, 16-oz. glass filled with ice. Step 5 Garnish with a pineapple wedge and enjoy.
There are several variations on the Mai Tai. This drink is very easy to modify to your own taste.
