Device drivers allow your computer’s operating system to communicate with a hardware component such as a Network Interface Card. Most Network Interface Card (NIC) manufacturers ship the device driver with the component on a CD-ROM. If a CD-ROM with the device driver is not included with the NIC, it can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website. Insert the CD-ROM with the NIC device driver into the computer’s disc drive after installing the NIC in the computer. If a CD-ROM was not included, download the driver from the NIC manufacturer’s website to your desktop. Click “Start” and select “Control Panel” from the Start menu.
