Avast has long been recognized as one of the web’s best antivirus programs, and it doesn’t hurt that it is completely free for home users. It’s fairly easy to install and use, and it is definitely worth your download memory, especially if you don’t want to pony up another $100 for the latest version of Norton Antivirus. Go to the Avast Antivirus homepage–see Resources. Once it is loaded, go to the “Desktop Solutions” tab at the top of the page. Go to the left on the next page and click on Home Edition. You will then be brought to a page where you can either download the software directly or register. Click on the register tab. Enter your email address, your name and confirm that you are only using the program for personal use. Click the Submit button and wait for an email. Leave this window open.
