Candle sconces lit the hallways of medieval castles for centuries. While they are not the primary source of lighting today, the wall holders can be a great way to burn candles safely and to add a bit of the dramatic to your décor. Choose candle sconces that are covered with a hurricane glass or some other kind of glass to keep them safer from accidents, especially with children around. A glass covering also will help eliminate dripped wax on your floor or walls. Allow enough space away from surrounding art, curtains, coat racks and anything else that could catch fire while burning your candles. Consider the height of the candle when you measure to hang the sconce. Make sure sconce is secured tightly to the wall using a wall anchor. Make the hole for the screw, and then insert the proper anchor for the size screw you plan to use.
