If you have child or a pet who have urinated on a couch, chair or bed with a foam rubber cushion, the mess can be easily cleaned. Wetting the cushions with a traditional solution of detergent and water or other liquid cleansers can keep the cushions unusable for days. Using a dry borax powder will pull out the moisture and remove the odor, without requiring days of drying time. Remove any cushion covers or bedsheets to expose the wet area. Sprinkle 20 Mule Borax powder liberally onto the affected area. Allow to rest for at least six hours. The dry powder will pull the moisture out of the foam cushion. Fit the vacuum with a handheld attachment and use it to remove the powder from the surface. Use your hand to see if the cushion is dry. Use a hairdryer to dry the spot if it remains damp, but no odor is present.
