How Do You Find Mississippi Minimum Wage Laws?
Mississippi is one of a handful of U.S. states without state minimum wage laws, which means that current national standards set by the federal government mandate the state’s minimum wage. However, the state house recently introduced and passed legislation to implement state minimum wage laws for the first time in Mississippi. At the time of this writing, the bill still resides with the senate for final approval. Read on for more information. Be aware that the Fair Standards Labor Act (FLSA) ensures the federal minimum wage rate for most employees. According to this act, any business with annual revenue in excess of $500,000 or that engages in interstate commerce must comply. (A company may be deemed as conducting interstate commerce if they simply order supplies or communicate by mail with out-of-state vendors.) Make sure your employer complies with the current federal minimum wage laws as directed by the FLSA, regardless of pending changes in the state laws (see Resources below). Unde
