Goals should be specific and address something that can be measured. For example, saying “please” and “thank you” would make a good goal for incentive charts. If you set a general goal like “behave well”, it’s left open to interpretation. And a 3 year old’s interpretation of “behave well” is a lot different than his parent’s interpretation! Pick rewards. Make sure the rewards are motivating to your kids. It doesn’t have to be a toy or other object. It could be a special trip to the zoo or the ice cream shop.
