How Do You Edit Windows XP Startup Programs?
When your Windows XP system tries to boot too many programs at startup, it can cause waste time while you wait for your computer to fully start. If you close down programs that the computer automatically started, you are lose even more time. Windows XP has a built-in interface that allows you to turn off the automatic start of any programs that you don’t use. Click “Start” and select the “Run” button. Type “msconfig” with no quotations into the “Run” dialog box. Press “Enter.” Select the “Startup” tab in the “System Configuration Utility” box. Uncheck the box to the left of any program you don’t want to start up when you boot your computer. Choose “Apply” and then “OK.” Select the “Restart” button and reboot your machine.
