Windows XP has a built-in interface that allows you to turn off the automatic start of any programs that you don’t use. Click “Start” and select the “Run” button. Type “msconfig” with no quotations into the “Run” dialog box. Press “Enter.” Select the “Startup” tab in the “System Configuration Utility” box. Uncheck the box to the left of any program you don’t want to start up when you boot your computer. Choose “Apply” and then “OK.” Select the “Restart” button and reboot your machine.
