Karaoke DVD players provide visuals and lyrics to go with the music for a sing-along party when the machine is hooked up to a receiver and TV. The receiver, when connected with surround sound speakers, will deliver multi-channel audio for added sonic punch. Connecting a karaoke DVD player to a receiver requires a standard set of composite audio/video cables, which typically come with the karaoke machine, but are also available at electronics stores. Turn off the karaoke DVD player and disconnect it from the power. Connect the yellow video plug on one end of the cables to the video output jack on the back of the karaoke DVD player.
