How Do You Build Lean Rock Hard Muscle?
Building muscle requires an increased intake of both protein and overall calories. While many bodybuilders still use the old school method of bulking up, which is to consume so many calories that they gain significant amounts of fat along with muscle, it is possible to gain muscle without the fat. Building lean rock hard muscle is a matter of balancing your food intake with your training so that you get adequate calories to make gains with little or nothing left for your body to convert to fat. Use a quality whey protein to add calories to your normal diet. Start by drinking a shake mixed with water and take it within 30 minutes of your scheduled workout along with a complex (slow digesting) carbohydrate such as oatmeal or a fresh fruit such as an apple or banana. Drink another shake immediately following your training session along with a simple (fast digesting) carb such as a sports drink. The fast carb spikes your insulin, allowing immediate muscle repair.
