How Do You Build A Barn Foundation?
Building a barn foundation is similar to building a foundation for a home. You need to set up your forms and rebar, and tie them all together, then pour your concrete. The difference is, with a barn, you’re likely to be supporting a building that is heavier and taller, and does not have a basement. This means you do not have to do as much heavy excavating, but you may want to dig your foundation fairly deep. In some cases, a simple concrete slab and pole foundation is going to be good enough. Excavate your foundation using a back hoe or bull dozer. Dig down deep enough to provide a solid footing for the concrete beds. You don’t want the earth sliding or shifting under your concrete. Line up your forms for the outside of the foundation first. Brace your 2-by-6 form boards to solid post board sunk into the earth for stability. Install your rebar (steel bars) inside the forms to build the cage for the foundation. Install the rebar about 18 inches apart in both horizontal and vertical line
