How Do You Become A JAG Officer In The Army?
Did you ever watch the television show “JAG” and wonder how you go about becoming a JAG (Judge Advocate General) officer in the Army? The U.S. Army JAG Corps has bragging rights of being the oldest law firm in the nation. Although becoming a part of this elite organization can be somewhat challenging, it has benefits and rewards that will last you a lifetime. Step 1 Graduate from an ABA (American Bar Association) approved law school. Visit the American Bar Association’s website to determine whether or not a law school has its stamp of approval (see Resources). Step 2 Take the state bar examination. You must receive acceptance into the federal bar or the highest state bar within your state to be considered for the Army JAG Corps. Step 3 Ensure that you will be under 42 years of age before entering Army active duty.
