How Do You Add Refrigerant To Auto Air Conditioners?
If no cold air is coming out of your auto air conditioner, you may need to add more refrigerant to the system. This must be done with extreme caution because of the high pressure the system uses. You aren’t adding any liquids to the system, just the cold vapors from a can of R134a refrigerant. It will likely take a full 12-ounce can to recharge the system, but it’s important not to add too much or too little refrigerant. Locate the service fittings on the car’s air conditioning system. There are two fittings to look for. The low side fitting is around the suction hose line connecting the accumulator to the compressor, and the high side fitting is at the line going from the compressor to the condenser. Connect the hose and valve to the refrigerant can and turn the valve to the on position to puncture the can at the top. Slowly turn the valve back out so a small bit of refrigerant will blow into the hose and blow any air out of it. Close the valve so no more refrigerant will escape. Conn
