How do they test for Aspergers in adults?
It’s my understanding that the process is about the same for adults as for kids, except that certain tests used with kids can’t be used with adults and vice versa. Also, sometimes certain things done in the diagnostic process in kids can’t be done with adults… your parents won’t be interviewed about your early development if they’re dead or absolutely uncooperative. So, you’ll have to do some tests/questionnaires, talk with the psych, and your parents may be interviewed. They might like to see any old records you have of previous psych evaluations and such. That’s about it, I think. Unless you’re trying to get disability, it probably isn’t worth it to spend the money on the diagnostic process (it’s expensive), but hey, whatever you want.
