For those of us that are on one of these systems, you cannot believe how much a healthy system can mean. If you know about septic systems, then you know that the reason that they work is that micro-organisms present in our environment, digest the matter in the septic tanks. As simple as that sounds, it is these natural little critters eating the stuff that we put down the tank and producing heat as a bi-product. And what is it that we put down the tank? Without being clinical, it should be stuff that we eat, drink, or put down our sink in the preparation of our meals. Table scraps should go to the composter. As all of these little critters eat the waste, a small amount of heat is produced, and their population grows.
