How do i transfer money between two different banks in different countries?
When I was stationed in Korea I had money transferred from my account to my Mother’s account…I just explained to the bank what I needed to do and followed their instructions. So you may need to call the bank that you’re instigating the transfer with, or contact them via internet etc, and just follow what they say. You should have on hand your routing numbers and account numbers to make things go easier. I don’t know about Australian banking, but in America, the bank routing number is the first set of numbers before the colon that precedes your account number on your check. Hope this helps.
There are two ways of doing this from your bank. One is electronic banking, and I don’t know if it is possible between banks in Jordan and Australia, but I don’t see why not, as there is probably import/export trading between the countries. The other way is to ask your bank for a bank draft in Australian currency – they will take the cost from your Jordanian account. A bank draft is effectively a cheque that the bank provides from their account in another country – in this case Australia – and every bank has an arrangement for making foreign currency payments via their banking counterparts in other countries. When you get the bank draft, simply mail it to your Australian bank, with a covering letter asking them to lodge it in your account. As this draft will be issued in your name, it is a “crossed cheque”, it must go into your own bank account and is not cashable by anyone else. This adds safety to the procedure.
