How do I save to a floppy when I get a message refusing to save the file e.g. that the disk is read-only?
Make sure that the floppy is not write protected, move the plastic tab to cover the hole in the corner of the disk. If this fails to solve the problem continue as follows: Verify that there is a write problem in the simplest case i.e. creating a simple file within the word processor/office suite and saving or dragging a file from the desktop to the floppy drive. If this works then the problem may be permissions on the file you originally tried to save. Change them or use the Save as . . command. If simple files cannot be saved, try a different disk. If the save still fails contact Userful and your IT and report the details you have discovered about the problem.
