How do burn DVDs?
There is a DVD burner in LH428 attached to the PC named blindcat that can be used by CS faculty, staff, and students. Backup your CS unix home diretory to DVD • Insert a blank DVD+R disc into the bottom DVD drive. • Start the “Burn CDs & DVDs” (Roxio Creator Plus) application from the desktop and click on the “Data” button and then select “Data Disc”. • Go to Tools->Options… and make two changes: • Under “Write-Once DVD Compatibility” select “I only need to use discs for one recording” to ensure the greatest possible compatibility with other DVD drives. You can select multisession recording if you want but that that increases the possibility of other DVD drives being unable to read the disc. • Check the box to “Verify data written to disc after burning”. • Select the proper target drive (using the pulldown near the bottom of the window) which should be D: for the bottom DVD drive. • Open your unix home directory. You can do this using either SSH or SMB access per the PC File Access F
