How can we reduce our energy consumption while retaining the high scientific value of cross-collaboration conferences?
Suppose the travel expenses of all of a meeting’s participants had to be included in an overall energy budget. Having to work within an energy budget would lead to meetings being organized in locations such that energy use was minimized. This may mean choosing a city close to many of the participants’ homes, or one with good train links to other cities.
