This is the simplest part of owning an XLi. The combination of the network port and flash memory makes remote software upgrades an easy and quick task. You can wither download the new firmware from the Symmetricom.com website, or obtain it from Symmetricom customer support on CD. Setup your workstation as the FTP server, and upload the new firmware into the XLi using F100 command, via either a Telnet session or RS-232 port. Please refer to the XLi user manual for complete description of this operation. Finally, reboot the XLi, and viola! You got the latest operating software working.
