This is from their website: The NCWFA runs Whippet Rescue for Northern California. We foster and find homes for whippets in need. We get whippets from the pound, as strays, or released to us by the owner. We place whippets in good permanent homes. Anyone wishing to adopt a Whippet that lives in the Northern California area should fill out an application form. http://ncwfa.com/rescue/application.html After receiving your application, we will place you on our waiting list and will contact you if a possible match comes into our program. All Rescue Whippets are spayed or neutered, and will be up to date on shots. They will be evaluated for temperament and house/crate training. Most whippets like other dogs. They are not always good with cats. Some whippets may have other issues, but most are very sweet, lovable, trainable dogs that just need some time to become the wonderful dog that anyone would dream of owning. All Whi

http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=1454437 This group is in CA, and rescues Whippets. You put an application in, and as the Whippets become available, you have opportunities to adopt. There’s tons of contact information on that page. It sounds like a great organization! It looks like they only have one purebred Whippet (male) right now, but most groups have a lot of turnaround on popular breeds like the Whippet, so getting your name in will increase your possibility of getting one! Other good leads: http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi?petid=4311448 That’s Lady Minerva, she’s a mix, but looks very whippet-ish, and has a sister. http://search.petfinder.com/petnote/displaypet.cgi
