How can I progress to a PhD programme?
Of course you would be free to apply for a PhD programme in the normal way following graduation from your Masters course. Details of how to do this at Nottingham are given here. Your Masters qualification is likely to place you favourably for winning a place and should improve your chances of finding funding. However, you may like to consider applying for the Integrated PhD or “New Route” PhD. This is a four year programme that involves taking taught courses in your first year. The School of Education also includes it in its own list of postgraduate degrees. These courses would normally be modules that are presented as parts of Masters programmes. Thus if you wished to pursue doctoral studies in the area of ICT and education, you might chose to take modules largely from the present programme. During this first year, you would be opening negotiations with a supervisor for the following three years of your research.
