How can I paint melamine?
If it has been painted before, repainting shouldn’t be a problem. Just give it a light sanding with a fine grit sand paper or sanding pad. Wipe it carefully to remove any dust. If it is the actual melamine surface (unpainted) that you are dealing with, you will want to sand it as described above. Purchase a bonding primer, they are specifically designed to bond with glossy or hard to paint surfaces. Then paint in your desired color. A trip to your local home improvement center should take care of all of your needs, including the new handles. Take one of the handles with you to match up the hole alignment or plan on filling the holes and drilling new ones.
