How Can I Achieve More Realistic Colours In My Paintings?
The best thing to do would be to draw from observation. Try taking a few photographs and study the colours to help you. Use a camera which takes good quality pictures so that you can get a good idea of the colours. If you have a wide range of coloured paints, crayons etc at your side then you can experiment with different colours to achieve the look that you want. Mix a few colours to get an idea of how they work together and how a one colour car change another when mixed with it. Rather than paint onto your drawing straight away, use a page in your sketchbook as a test page so that you can see what the mixed colours look like on paper before you begin to paint. Also, experiment with different media to see how realistic you can make your painting.
