How big is Russia?
In terms of its physical size, the Russian Federation Российская Федерация (established in 1991) is the largest country in the world. It covers an area of more than 6 million square miles, that is, more than one-ninth of the world’s total land area. Russia Россия is nearly two times the size of the United States. The country is so large that it crosses 11 time zones! The country spans parts of two continents: Europe and Asia.
