How are students selected?
Families are kept up-to-date on the status of each application, especially if we have not received teacher recommendations or school records in a timely fashion. After the Admissions Office has received a complete application for the candidate, which includes the written application, records and recommendations from the child’s current school, observations from Shadow Days or other campus visits, and results of the screening process, the file is given to the Admissions Committee for final review. The Admissions Committee carefully reviews each qualified applicant’s file, taking into consideration the student’s academic readiness and achievements, and his or her personal, social and emotional maturity. All applications receive one of 3 decisions: accept, wait list, or decline.
Within a selected school and grade, 25 to 30 students are randomly chosen for each subject tested. All of the data from selected students from all of the schools are then combined to represent all students in the state. The participation of every student selected helps ensure the most accurate measure of student performance in your state and the nation.
