How are Challenges to Professionalism defined?
Unmet professional responsibility – Not meeting implied and legal standards of responsibility. Lack of conscientiousness – Working without diligence or respect. Conflict of interest – When one willingly goes forward in a professional situation when personal issues infringe on your ability to make unbiased judgments. Lack of effort toward self-improvement – When a person has been confronted on an issue, knows that what they are doing is unprofessional, and yet does nothing to change that behavior. Diminished relationships with colleagues, teachers, staff – Allowing one’s personal agenda to deliberately retard the academic and professional relationship with fellow students, teachers and staff. Greed – The inappropriate aspiration of fame, power, or money. When greed exists, altruism, caring, generosity, and integrity are compromised significantly. Abuse of power – Using one’s status and leverage for unethical reasons. Misrepresentation – The conscious effort of lying and/or fraud. Arroga
