How are air watts calculated?

Air watts are a ‘made up’ calculation to try to show the cleaning power of a vacuum cleaner rather than the input electrical power. (Air Flow * Vacuum)/8.5 = Air Watts where air flow is in CFM and vacuum is inches of water But at maximum vacuum, the air flow will be 0 and at maximum air flow the vacuum will be minimal. Since the formula multiplies 2 terms that are measured at different operating conditions it isn’t a perfect comparison. Dyson claim that their air watts figure is constant implying that other may drop off as the bags etc get clogged.
