The application form for national support will be altered to include a tuition fee loan section. As currently, the application for national support will be made on the assumption that the student will go to his/her preferred institution and course (if this is not the case a reassessment will occur as under current arrangements). The student will enter the amount of the course for that year and the amount he/she wishes to borrow e.g. £3,070 course fee and £3,070 loan or £3,070 course fee and £2,000 loan (the student in this example is choosing to pay £1,070 to the HEI direct). Queen’s University has agreed that those students whose attendance has been confirmed have the right to apply for a tuition fee loan up to the end of February, for courses started in the previous September.
