HELP!!!! How should i care for my tattoo?
No matter what, check with your artist BEFORE you decide to change aftercare. Every artist has a different technique and they know how their work heals. Most artists guarantee their work. That way if something happens during healing they’ll touch up the tattoo. If they tell you to care for your tattoo one way and you follow someone elses advice without letting them know, you may be forfeiting your guarantee. You trusted your tattoo artist to work on you, trust them with healing. This is not the first time I’ve heard of an artist recommending mostly dry-healing a tattoo. It works for many people where other aftercare has failed. Yes, the tattoo can dry, crack and peel. It’s part of the healing process. Wait until the tattoo is entirely healed before you jump to conclusions that the ink didn’t take. Tattoos can go through some odd looking stages before they’re finished healing. One stage is that of new skin… it’s a milky color underneath and can make the tattoo look faded. As it heals
you ARE suppose to put something on it… use either LUBRIDERM [diaper rash cream] or AQUAPHORINE (sp), [its a baby moisterizer]. you are supposed to use either of those the first 3 days, after that you can just use a non-scented lotion until it stops peeling in 1-2 weeks. whatever you do, dont use neosporin.
