If Media Player gives you a similar message, then you will need to obtain the CODEC that was used to compress the file before you can convert it to MPEG. 2. If the clip does play in Media Player, then the clip is most likely an AVI Type 2 file. MPEG Maker-2 currently only supports AVI Type 1 files. To avoid this, choose an UNCOMPRESSED format or a standard AVI-1 CODEC when capturing your original AVI.
