Does the Commission regulate resellers?
The Commission has minor oversight over resellers entering the market, and it does have the authority to resolve complaints; but it does not regulate the day-to-day operations of resellers, nor does it regulate their prices. The market does a fairly effective job of regulating prices by itself. If a reseller charges prices that are too high, the customers will go to other, less expensive providers, and the reseller will either cut its prices or go out of business. The Commission does certify resellers, but the certification only means that they meet minimal certification requirements. The certification does not mean that the Commission has reviewed a reseller’s operations, business practices or prices.
