Does Fox need a first lady?
Commentators have said Fox does not need a first lady because the role of the post in Mexico has been so limited. But others point out that international protocol has forced other single presidents in Latin America to find someone, usually a daughter, to take on the role for big state events. According to a recent poll published in Reforma newspaper, only half of Mexicans feel the country needs a first lady. “The first lady would be almost, almost superfluous. … She would be nothing less than totally decorative and Fox doesn’t need that,” said Mexican columnist Guadalupe Loaeza.
