Does anyone know what Welsh Springer Spaniels are like as pets?
Both welsh and english springers make fabulous pets, there is a reason why they are so popular! I wouldnt say they “need” a job, although they are high energy they arent super-intelligent like collies and when they arent out walkies they dont need their minds constantly occupied, in fact they are rather daft lol. So I’d say if you can give the dog about 2 hours walkies a day, go for it. They are loyal and wonderful family companions, very cuddly and sweet in the house…a word of warning though, they dont call em springers for nothing. If you have small kids you might want to choose another breed, one that doesnt have springs attached to its feet. Other than that they are loyal, excellent with children and other dogs if well-socialised, cuddly and energetic at the same time, love to curl up on the sofa as much as they love walkie time, will guard their family if they are threatened, and are all around great family dogs.
