I’ve heard that there are not too many jobs for MA’s these days (or medical biller or coder) albeit you’re looking for a medical ‘office’ assistant program. I was also under the impression that ‘online schools’ such as penn foster and stratford career are not looked upon as reputable like community colleges (perhaps non-credit course in MA and some are offered online) and county vo-tech schools (and may even be more nominal in price). If you do take such a course, perhaps you can look for jobs with a different title such as medical receptionist or medical records (aka ‘health information’) clerk. Here is the website for the American Association of Medical Assistants: www.aama.org For more general career info: www.bls.gov/oco and search ‘medical assistant’ or such.
