A. No. The Guidance is not intended to change current practice with regards to ABE. It is primarily designed to ensure that CCTV is applied early in the case and shown to suspects in interview to both narrow the issues (e.g. ID) and allow early assessment of the evidence so that there are no delays under CJ-SSS in defence requests for unseen CCTV. It is fully accepted that, as currently, the showing of ABE material in interviews is not practical.
